Loves Park Council approves special event permit

The city of Loves Park Council met Jan. 23 to approve a special event permit.

Here are the meeting's minutes, as provided by the council:

The Loves Park municipal government includes 10 aldermen, who attend City Council meetings and vote on City issues. The City is divided into 5 different wards. The citizens of each ward directly elect 2 aldermen, who serve 4 year terms.

Mayor Darryl Lindberg called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m.

Alderman Charles Frykman opened the meeting with an invocation, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.

Aldermen Chuck Frykman, Mark Peterson, A. Marie Holmes, Robert Schlensker, Doug Allton, Nancy Warden, John Jacobson, Greg Jury, Clint Little, John Pruitt

The Journal of Proceedings for the regular meeting of January 16, 2017 was approved as submitted by the city clerk on a motion by Alderman Little. Second by Alderman Schlensker. Motion carried. 9 Ayes (Aldermen Frykman, Peterson, Schlensker, Allton, Warden, Jacobson, Jury, Little, Pruitt) 1 Present (Alderman Holmes)

Received a Special Event Permit request from the Nikolas Ritschel Foundation to hold a 5K Fun Run at the Rockford Speedway on March 25, 2017, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Referred to Alderman Peterson of the Codes and Regulations Committee.

Received a Special Event Permit request from YMCA of Rock River Valley for the Heritage Run to be held on a portion of city streets on Sunday, April 23, 2017, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Referred to Alderman Peterson of the Codes and Regulations Committee.

Alderman Peterson of the Codes and Regulations Committee moved to approve a Special Event Permit request from YMCA of Rock River Valley for the Heritage Run to be held on a portion of city streets on Sunday, April 23, 2017, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Second by Alderman Frykman. Motion carried by voice vote.

Alderman Jury presented the Water Department bills dated January 16, 2017, in the amount of $17,162.29, and moved that they be paid. Second by Alderman Jacobson. Motion carried. 10 Ayes (Aldermen Frykman, Peterson, Holmes, Schlensker, Allton, Warden, Jacobson, Jury, Little, Pruitt)

Alderman Jury presented the General Fund and all other bills dated January 16, 2017, in the amount of $87,470.06, and moved that they be paid. Second by Alderman Jacobson. Motion carried. 10 Ayes (Aldermen Frykman, Peterson, Holmes, Schlensker, Allton, Warden, Jacobson, Jury, Little, Pruitt)

Alderman Little presented Police Department Reports dated January 23, 2017; presented Fire Department Reports dated January 22, 2017, to be placed on file.

Alderman Jacobson presented the Water Department Report dated January 23, 2017; presented the Street Department Report dated January 23, 2017, to be placed on file.

Alderman Jury of the Finance and Administration Committee presented the General Fund and all other bills dated January 23, 2017, in the amount of $227,879.28, for consideration at the next city council meeting; presented the minutes from the committee meeting held January 16, 2017, to be placed on file.

Alderman Jacobson of the Public Works Committee presented the Water Department list of bills dated January 16, 2017, in the amount of $10,438.64, for consideration at the next city council meeting; presented the minutes from the committee meetings held December 12, 2016 and January 2, 2017, to be placed on file.

Alderman Peterson of the Codes and Regulations Committee announced that a committee meeting will be held Monday, January 30, 2017, following city council.

Alderman Jury presented the following resolution and moved for its adoption: RESOLVED, that by the adoption of this Resolution, the Mayor is authorized to hire James Urbanowitz as a part-time employee in the position of Plumbing/HVAC Inspector effective January 25, 2017. The hourly rate of pay shall be $20.00 per hour. Second by Alderman Jacobson. Motion carried. 10 Ayes (Aldermen Frykman, Peterson, Holmes, Schlensker, Allton, Warden, Jacobson, Jury, Little, Pruitt) RESOLUTION NO. 17-006

Alderman Pruitt presented for second reading an ordinance providing for a Special Use Permit for automobile sales in conjunction with automobile repair at the property commonly known as 7906 Forest Hills Road, and moved for passage of the ordinance. Second by Alderman Frykman. Motion carried. 10 Ayes (Aldermen Frykman, Peterson, Holmes, Schlensker, Allton, Warden, Jacobson, Jury, Little, Pruitt) ORDINANCE NO. 4130-17

Mayor Lindberg wished Alderman Frykman a happy birthday.

Alderman Jury moved that the meeting be adjourned. Second by Alderman Schlensker. Motion carried by voice vote. The meeting was adjourned at 6:10 p.m.
