Cherry Valley Recreation Board Committee plans next newsletter

The village of Cherry Valley Recreation Board Committee met Nov. 2 to plan the next newsletter.

Here is the meeting's agenda, as provided by the committee:

VILLAGE OF CHERRY VALLEY, ILLINOIS RECREATION BOARD MEETING WEDNESDAY NOVEMBER 02, 2016

Chairman Lori Kuhn called the meeting to order at 7:00 PM. A Roll Call was taken by Heather Church:

MEMBERS: DINA BRANDT ABSENT DAN JAROCKI PRESENT JILL WEDIG ABSENT NATALIE SCIBONA PRESENT TINA KITCHEN ABSENT STACEY CHESTER PRESENT

YOUTH MEMBERS: LUCA BRANDT ABSENT

Others Present: President Jim E. Claeyssen and Trustee Dave Schroeder

ADOPT THE AGENDA: Natalie Scibona moved to adopt the agenda. Stacey Chester seconded. Motion carried.

APPROVE THE MINUTES: Natalie Scibona moved to approve the minutes from the October 05, 2016 meeting. Stacey Chester seconded. Motion carried.

EX-OFFICIO’S REPORT: DAVID SCHROEDER. No report.

PUBLIC COMMENT: None.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS:

1. Halloween Report – See attached. Nothing else reported.

Jill Wedig arrived at 7:04 PM.

2. Santa – Nancy Belt purchased new wigs and a new beard for this year’s Santa event. Set up will be at 3:15 PM at the log cabin. Jill price checked and found that By the Dozen has the best price for the sugar cookies, 27 dozen for $145.85 and they will be a 3 inch cookie frosted with sprinkles. Stacey Chester will re- wrap the presents since they’re getting old. Tina Kitchen will handle getting the music, and Dan Jarocki will contact Public Works to get the Sleigh and garbage cans out for the event. Dan Jarocki moved to request up to $550.00 for the Santa event. Natalie Scibona seconded. All “Aye”; none opposed. Motion carried by voice vote.

3. Holiday Lights – Lori Kuhn said once she receives the nominees from Village Hall

she will email them to the rest of the committee. Nothing else reported.

4. Luminaries- Kathy Trimble has already ordered and received the Posters for Luminary Night in the Village from Minuteman Press. Nothing else reported.

5. Bounce Night – Village President Jim Claeyssen wrote a letter to the Cherry Valley Men’s Club on behalf of the Recreation Board asking them to sponsor the Bounce Night event. The Cherry Valley’s Men Club meeting is November 21, 2016 and they will discuss the matter then. Lori Kuhn will contact GAR South and check to see if they will bill the Village for payment. Nothing else reported.

6. Fun Bowl - Tabled until closer to the event.

NEW BUSINESS:

1. Ice Skating – Jill Wedig is waiting for Carlson Ice Arena to do their winter scheduling before she can get a date for Skate Night. Nothing else reported.

2. December Meeting – The December meeting will be December 14, 2016 instead of the first Wednesday of the month so that the Recreation Board can decide on the Holiday Light winners. Pizza will be provided.

3. Newsletter (January – April) – The events for the next newsletter will consist of events from January through April 2017. Bounce Night will be January 22, 2017 from 5:30 – 6:30 PM at GAR South and open to the first 100 kids; Fun Bowl (18+) will be January 28, 2017 from 6:30 – 8:30 PM at Cherry Bowl it costs $12 per person which includes your shoe rental and as many games of Scotch Doubles as you can get in within the two hours; Ice Skating date is TBD pending Carlson Ice Arenas winter scheduling but will be in March 2017 like in previous years; and the last event for this newsletter will be the Easter Candy Scramble Saturday April 15, 2017 at Baumann Park, the Easter Bunny will arrive at 1:30 PM followed by the candy hunt at 2:00 PM Sharp. Nothing else reported.

ADJOURNMENT: Chairman Kuhn entertained a motion to adjourn. Jill Wedig moved to adjourn at 7:29 PM. Dan Jarocki seconded. Motion carried.
