Auburn High School issued the following announcement on Sept. 26

The community is invited to participate in the district's monthly Committee of the Whole meetings. Each meeting includes time for public comment. According to School Board policy, as many as five community members can address the committee at each meeting. Each speaker has a three-minute time limit, and speakers must submit a request to address the committee no later than 5 p.m. the Friday before the upcoming meeting. Requests will be accepted no earlier than one week before the upcoming meeting date.

Ways to submit a request:

Mail a written request to the Coordinator to the Board, Attn: Laura Fromm, 501 7th St., Rockford, IL, 61104. The mailed request must be received before the 5 p.m. Friday deadline.

Complete the online form through the Board of Education website.

The School Board added Committee of the Whole meetings in July. The monthly meetings replaced standing committee meetings: Education, Operations and Budget & Finance. Committee meetings do not include formal action. Instead, they focus on in-depth conversations that include all seven board members. Committee of the Whole meetings are usually scheduled for the first Tuesday of each month. Meeting times are flexible, depending on the agenda:

2018: July 17, Aug. 7, Sept. 4, Oct. 16, Nov. 6, Dec. 4

2019: Jan. 15, Feb. 5, March 5, April 2, May 7, June 4

The public is also welcome to address the full School Board at regularly scheduled meetings. Comment cards will still be collected at 6:50 p.m.; 10 minutes before the scheduled start of the meeting. All meeting notices are posted on the meeting announcements webpage.
