Village of Cherry Valley Recreation Board Committee met June 5.

Here is the minutes provided by the board:

Chairman Scott Kramer called the meeting to order at 7:07 PM. A Roll Call was

taken by Deputy Clerk, Heather Riley:

MEMBERS: DINA BRANDT PRESENT        JUDY PRISBY PRESENT

                    JILL WEDIG PRESENT            SCOTT KRAMER PRESENT

                    DAN JAROCKI ABSENT

Others Present: Village President Jim E. Claeyssen, Trustee David Schroeder, Sergeant Pearse, Officer Fulton and Deputy Clerk Heather Riley

ADOPT THE AGENDA: Scott Kramer moved to adopt the agenda. Jill Wedig seconded. Motion carried by voice vote.

APPROVE THE MINUTES: Scott Kramer moved to approve the minutes from the April 3, 2019 meeting. Judy Prisby seconded. Motion carried by voice vote.

EX-OFFICIO’S REPORT: David Schroeder. Mosquito spraying will begin tonight weather pending.

PUBLIC COMMENT: None.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS:

1. Movie Night (June 15, 2019) – Dan Jarocki will run the popcorn machine out of the Granary. Jill Wedig contacted SLV Productions and they will drop off the screen the Friday before the event.

2. Garden Walk (June 23, 2019) – Village Staff will make copies of the garden walk fliers and posters that will be available to be picked up Friday morning. Sue Claeyssen is making garden stones for each participant and they cost $35.00 a stone. Scott Kramer requests $350.00 for the Garden Walk. Jill Wedig seconded. Motion carried by voice vote.

3. Street Dance (July 27, 2019) – Scott Kramer requested $2,000.00 for the 2019 Street Dance. Dina Brandt seconded. Motion carried by voice vote. Jill Wedig purchased a Deck Cooler as one of the big item giveaways and will be purchasing a fire pit as another giveaway. The committee will also collect the gift cards from The Cherry Valley Café, Cattle & Cream, Salamone’s, and NMT Drink as well.

4. Citizen of the Year (June 18, 2019) – Judy Prisby will purchase the gift for Lori Kuhn, cookies, punch ingredients, and water for the event. The Citizen of the Year celebration will be at the June 18, 2019 Village Board meeting.

NEW BUSINESS:

1. National Night Out (August 6, 2019) – Scott Kramer moved to request up to $850.00 for National Night Out. Jill Wedig seconded. Sergeant Pearse stated that Chief Swank said no dunk tank this year. Sergeant Pearse asked that the committee help him come up with a new idea to replace the dunk tank. Judy Prisby will check to see if Sparky will MC the event, Judy will also provide the Flag to be used at National Night Out. Village President Jim. E. Claeyssen stated that the Pavilion in front of the baseball diamond will be completed by National Night Out and will be able to be used for shade during the event. Trustee Schroeder and Scott Kramer will provide their pop-up tents to use for shade. Village President Claeyssen will buy the bomb pops and bring them down to be handed out in his cooler. Sergeant Pearse stated that he would be making vouchers for a free slice of pizza at Salamone’s Pizza that will be good for that night only. Dan Jarocki will run the popcorn machine and Jill Wedig will provide her white board for the prize announcement.

2. 4th of July Parade – Scott Kramer moved to request up to $750.00 for the 4th of July Parade. Dina Brandt seconded. Motion carried by voice vote. Scott Kramer will set the lineup list. Dina Brand will make all of the goody bags to hand out to the “anything with wheels” participants. Trustee Schroeder stated that he has two golf carts to use for the Trustees. The Honor Guard will lead the parade, using the same route as in the past.

3. Reminder of additional June Meeting – In order to have everything ready for the 4th of July Parade there will be an additional meeting on June 26, 2019 and no meeting on July 3, 2019.

ADJOURNMENT: Scott Kramer entertained a motion to adjourn at 8:07 PM. Judy Prisby seconded. Motion carried by voice vote.
