There have been 13,390 confirmed coronavirus cases in Boone County as of Feb. 8, with 105 deaths linked to the virus, according to data from the state Department of Public Health (IDPH).

Chicago (550,414 cases) and Cook County (544,907 cases) posted the highest numbers statewide. Chicago’s death toll from the virus stands at 7,068, while Cook County recorded 6,572 deaths, according to the IDPH.

Illinois residents who have been tested for COVID-19 now number 52,247,789, the department reported. And the age group with the most confirmed cases was under 20, with 664,733 people in the age group testing positive for the virus.

Among all those testing positive in Illinois, 1,385,468 were male and 1,547,481 were female, the IDPH said. Male deaths linked to coronavirus numbered 17,235, while female deaths stood at 14,335.

Broken down according to race, the fatalities consisted of 19,757 whites, 5,815 African-Americans, 4,468 Hispanics, 999 Asians, and 531 belonging to other races or who did not provide their ethnicity before they died.
