City of Carlyle Employee Concerns Committee met March 24.

Here are the minutes provided by the committee:

Call to Order/Roll Call

The meeting was called to order by Chairman Jim McClaren on Monday, March 24, 2025, at 6 p.m. at Case Halstead Library located at 550 6th Street, Carlyle, IL 62231. Committee members present were Aldermen Jim McClaren, Tammy Peters, and Bruce Hilmes.

Others present were Mayor Judy Smith, City Administrator Brad Myers, City Clerk Rita Jurgensmeyer, Andy Wennerstrom, Aldermen Scott Diekemper, Mike Jansen, and John Hodapp.

Approval of Minutes

Alderman Bruce Hilmes made a motion to continue approving the minutes from the Employee Concerns Committee meeting on March 19, 2025. The motion was seconded by Alderman Tammy Peters and approved by voice vote. 

Approve Hiring Noah Miller as Part-Time Employee at Water Plant

Andy Wennerstrom told the committee that the person he has working part time in the water department is done. He would like to fill the position with Noah Miller. He has almost completed the RETC program. When he is finished, he will have a Class C water license in Illinois and Missouri. He will also have a Class 4 sewer license. This is a 10-week internship. He lives in Nashville, IL. Andy Wennerstrom said he will be working the day shift and will float between him and Brandon Pieron. He will be able to help with the water main project as well as in the water plant. Alderman Bruce Hilmes asked what RETC is. Andy Wennerstrom said it is the Resource Environmental Training Center. He said it is where the water employees go to take the classes to earn their water and sewer licenses. He will start on May 12th. Alderman Bruce Hilmes made a motion to hire Noah Miller as a part time employee at the water plant. Alderman Tammy Peters seconded the motion, and it was approved by voice vote.

Adjournment

At 6:03 p.m. a motion to adjourn was made by Alderman Bruce Hilmes. The motion was seconded by Alderman Tammy Peters and was approved by voice vote.
