City of Carlyle Finance Committee met Dec. 9.

Here are the minutes provided by the committee:

Call to Order/Roll Call

The meeting was called to order by Chairman Jeremy Weh on Monday, December 9, 2024, at 6:30 p.m. at Case Halstead Library located at 550 6th Street, Carlyle, IL 62231. Committee members present included Jeremy Weh, John Hodapp, and Jeff Taylor. Others present included a representative from Waste Management, Jim McClaren, Bruce Hilmes, Mike Jansen, Brad Myers, and Martha Reinkensmeyer.

Approval of Minutes

After reviewing the minutes from the November 25, 2024, meeting, John Hodapp made a motion to approve the minutes. Jeff Taylor seconded the motion. After a voice vote, all were found in favor. 

Approval of Claims

John Hodapp made a motion to approve the claims. Jeff Tayor seconded the motion. After a voice vote, all were found in favor.

Solid Waste Contract & Review & Recommendation

Brad explained that four bids were received. Bids were received from Waste Management, Republic Services, AAA Trash, and DC Waste. Brad reviewed the RFP and the bids with the committee. John Hodapp made a motion to send the contract to council for approval. Jeff Taylor seconded the motion. After a voice vote, all were found in favor. 

Review & Approve Tree Removal RFP

Brad explained that there are 42 trees that need to be removed throughout Carlyle. They are all on city easements/property. He asked the committee to consider doing an RFP for the tree removal due to the number of trees that must be removed and the amount of time it would take to cut them all down. He added that the city can deny all bids. John Hodapp made a motion to send the RFP to council. Jeff Taylor seconded the motion. After a voice vote, all were found in favor.

Executive Session

The committee did not enter executive session. 

Adjournment

With no further business to discuss, John Hodapp made a motion to adjourn. Jeff Taylor seconded the motion. Finding all in favor, the meeting adjourned at 6:37 p.m.
