Discuss/Approve Raising Youth Baseball/Softball/T-Ball Registration Fees

Park Director Ryan Meyer said he put some numbers together for 2024 and 2025 showing the cost of uniforms and umpires compared to how much is brought in for registration fees. In 2024 they brought in $6,810.00 and spent on uniforms and umpires $9,491.42 showing a loss of $2,681.42. In 2025 they brought in $7,560.00 for registration and spent $10,359.66 showing a loss of $2,799.66. He showed comparisons of nearby towns, and they were charging $40.00, or $45.00, or $70.00 for registration fees. Alderman Jeremy Weh asked how much was spent on the uniform. Ryan Meyer said the shirt was $12.00, the hat was $9.50, and the socks were $3.50. The only town that did not supply a uniform is St. Rose. We are currently at $30.00 for registration. Ryan Meyer said he shows that we have been at $30.00 since at least 2017. Ryan Meyer also explained that the cost of umpires went from $10.00 per game to $15.00 per game. They are thinking about stopping the socks because very few actually wear them. Alderman Bailey Ellis asked if we still provide helmets and bats. Ryan Meyer said yes, we do. He said every year K & J donates bags. As the kids get older, they provide their own bats. Ryan Meyer said he had to purchase 1st and 2nd grade catcher gear and they are $450.00 each. Alderman Jeff Taylor asked how much the shirts costs. Ryan Meyer told him $12.00. Alderman Taylor asked if we could get them from the same place that the Christmas shirts were bought from. They come from New York and Alderman Jeff Taylor said he doesn’t care because money is money. Ryan Meyer said he has always gone with Lee’s because they are local and they are good shirts. Mayor Smith said she could have Kayla contact them and see what we can get them for.

Alderman Jeremy Weh made a motion to approve and send to the city council raising the registration fee from $30.00 to $40.00. Alderman Mike Jansen seconded the motion, and it was approved by voice vote.

Bruemmer Park Update

Ryan Meyer said Kurt is working on the beams for the pavilion. As soon as they are put together, they will go to Greenville to get powder coated. Weather permitting, they will be down there to put the new beams up. Mayor Smith said they need to get a crane to lift the roof to put it on the new posts.
