Motion to Approve Minutes of March 2, 2026 by:_Ald. Little , Second Ald. Owens , Vote: 4-0

Old Business – 1) Elysian House of Beauty (6121 N. Second Street): The stated request was for outside booth / farmer’s market on various dates throughout the summer months. Asia Williams appeared for the petitioner (who was unable to attend) and discussed the general idea of this new event proposal. Numerous questions were raised, most focusing on operational questions and parking issues. Ms. Williams explained that consent for parking had been obtained from the operators of the building north and south of the location, but the diagrams presented indicated enough booth space that parking for vendors and attendees remained a concern. Proposed placement showed possible issues for vehicle traffic (cars blocked in) and challenges for first responders. After several minutes of discussion, Ms. Williams suggested the proposal could be modified to ensure spacing at the north end of the parking lot for ingress/egress (reducing number of booths) and consideration for vendors to park along the west (not east) of that lot. Committee members suggested that finalizing a site plan and having it approved by fire and police personnel would be beneficial – as well as written confirmation of parking access from the two adjacent operators (and perhaps notice to Family Dollar further south). Ms. Williams was informed the next meeting date and time would be in three weeks (April 6, 2026).
