Chairman Bonne called the meeting to order at 5:32 p.m.

Prayer was offered by Chaplain Norma Borerro. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.

Mayor McNamara presented a Proclamation to Xavier Whitford, and Anne Wilkerson on behalf of the Tommy Corral Memorial Foundation declaring the month of September as “National Suicide Prevention Month.”

SPEAKERS:

1. Prophet Yusef quoted scripture, spoke about suicide, and he wished County Board President Joseph Chiarelli a happy birthday.

2. John Tac Brantley quoted scripture, spoke about ICE operations, the recent purchase of the Rockford Memorial Hospital Building, and the need for a 24-hour day care at Orton Keys.

3. Bob Neiman noted that he started his career as a realtor in 1969. He further indicated how upset he was that the City of Rockford did not purchase the Rockford Memorial Hospital building. He suggested that the City create a plan for the that building.

4. Robert Pace stated that he was pro free speech, and pro legal immigration. He spoke about the past and current immigration situation in the United States.

II. RESOLUTIONS 

1. 2025-193-R – Committee recommends approval of Stroll on State/Dasher Dash 5k This event is scheduled to take place on November 29th from noon – 9 p.m. The 5k run will begin at noon. The event will be held in downtown Rockford, bordered by Jefferson Street, Church Street, Chestnut Street, Green Street, and 3rd Street.

Ald. Torina thanked GoRockford and their partners for making this event possible.
