FOIA Request to City of Loves Park Regarding Building Permits on October 30, 2024.

As a part of our ongoing efforts to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at Rockford Sun have submitted a request under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act, 5 ILCS 140. We have asked for records preferably in electronic format pertaining to all new residential and commercial building permits issued from January 1, 2023, until the present date.

The requested information includes details such as the type of permit, date issued, fee paid, requester’s name, address where the work is being done, and the contractor’s name. Additionally, we have also sought a list of all active residential and commercial building permits along with their current status.

Our mission at Rockford Sun is to hold public institutions accountable and provide transparency to the public. Access to these public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. As a media organization involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as media professionals.

We will continue our pursuit of this information and keep our readers updated on any developments regarding this request.
