In an Oct. 6 Facebook post, State Rep. Tony McCombie (R-Savanna) shared her endorsement for Esther Joy King for U.S. Congress.
“Will let you be the judge…. but I have NO question that Esther For Congress has the strength, the knowledge, and the ability to best serve the families of the 17th Congressional District!” the legislator said on Facebook. ” If you are an independent or unsure… please take the time, watch this debate and do your research… this election can and will make a difference in Washington DC!”
McCombie was elected to represent the individuals living in the 71st District in 2016. She is a lifelong resident of Savanna, Ill., and earned a Bachelor of Arts from Western Illinois University. She owns and operates Blue Appraisals and is a real estate broker with MelFoster Company. Her previous political experience includes time as the mayor of Savanna as a member of the Savanna City Council.
In her post, McCombie shared a link to a Youtube video of a recent debate between Esther Joy King and Eric Sorenson, who are vying to represent the 117th District.
Esther is a Judge Advocate General officer in the U.S. Army Reserve, and after college, spent time in Kabul, Afghanistan as an aid worker for women’s rights, according to her campaign biography. She earned a JD and Master’s of Law in Taxation from Northwestern University. She worked in the State of Illinois in the Office of Entrepreneurship, Innovation & Technology as well. She currently practices law in East Moline.
