State Rep. Joe Sosnowski (R-Rockford) has criticized Gov. J.B. Pritzker, the CDC and the Chicago Teachers Union over their response to the COVID-19 pandemic as debate over coronavirus policies in schools continues.

Students went back to school Wednesday after the school district and teachers reached an agreement.

“The CDC has guidance now for health care workers to go to work after testing positive for COVID, but some still think it’s a good idea to fire unvaccinated healthcare workers,” Sosnowski said in a post to his Facebook account. “Apparently that’s the #science. The CDC continues to do a disservice to the country with their continued push for mandates. Meanwhile they are largely silent on school closing like Chicago that irreparable (sic) harm children.”

Sosnowski did not limit his criticism to the CDC and went on to criticize the teachers union and Pritzker as well.

“It is tragically evident that the leadership of the Chicago Teachers Union cares little about the children of Chicago,” Sosnowski said. “Students and their families deserve better than CTU’s intransigence and a Governor who does nothing in response. JB Pritzker did not hesitate to issue orders closing small businesses while keeping big ones open. His past executive orders mandated two people allowed on a boat and closed outdoor activities, but when it comes to educating children, he chooses allegiance to CTU over the needs of students and families.”
