City of Rockford Police Department issued the following announcement on Jan. 3.
A Rockford woman is now in custody following a fatal crash. On January 30, 2018, shortly after 9:30 p.m., Rockford Police officers responded to the intersection of Kishwaukee Street and Sandy Hollow Road for single car accident. The victim, 24-year-old Jateyrrica Scott, later died at a local hospital because of the injuries she sustained in the accident.
The Rockford Police Department’s Traffic Unit conducted a follow up investigation into the fatal accident. It was determined an additional vehicle was involved in the incident, driven by 26-year-old Destiny Pendleton. The Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office reviewed the case, authorized the below listed charges and a warrant was obtained.

Pendleton was lodged in the Winnebago County Jail. The charges against Pendleton are merely accusations. She is considered innocent unless proven guilty in court.
