Networking

SwedishAmerican Hospital issued the following announcement on Oct. 15.

SwedishAmerican held a beam-raising ceremony at its new Women and Children’s Tower today on the main hospital campus. The event celebrated the final beam placement on the $60-million facility, which is scheduled to open in the spring of 2021.

SwedishAmerican President and CEO Dr. Michael Born, Ringland-Johnson President Brent Johnson, SwedishAmerican Director of Women and Children Services Jennifer Callison and SwedishAmerican Physician Dr. Howard Kaufman all spoke at the event, which featured SwedishAmerican employees and leadership and board members in attendance. All employees had the opportunity to sign the beam before it was raised into place.

“Today marks an important milestone for the construction of the Women and Children’s Tower,” Dr. Born said. “It signifies the completion of the framework for the structure and allows us to celebrate the progress that is being made. We are very excited to continue to watch the creation of what will be a tremendous facility for our patients and staff.”

The four-story Women and Children’s Tower at 1401 E. State Street will be 110,000 square feet and house pediatric specialty clinics, Labor and Delivery and SwedishAmerican’s Level III NICU. The center will also feature an auditorium and a roof-top garden.
