SwedishAmerican Hospital issued the following announcement on Dec. 2.
SwedishAmerican is pleased to welcome new family physician Dr. Rachel Hansen to the Byron Clinic (230 W. Blackhawk Drive, Byron).
Born and raised in Byron, Dr. Hansen received her medical degree from Southern Illinois University School of Medicine and completed her residency at University of Illinois School of Medicine-Rockford.
Dr. Hansen is a member of the American Medical Association, American Academy of Family Physicians and the Women’s Quality and Safety Committee. She was the recipient of the Association of Family Medicine Resident Award and the Rockford University Young Alumna Award. Her special medical interests include chronic disease management, disease prevention, gynecology, health and wellness, patient education, preventative medicine, women’s health and women and children.
“As a member of the local community, I want to devote time and energy to outreach and help by fulfilling the needs of my community, empowering patients through health education and resources, and advocating for changes to make healthcare more accessible to those who need it most,” Dr. Hansen said. “I am proud to be a part of the SwedishAmerican Medical Group, which allows me to incorporate my passion of making healthcare more accessible to everyone with the opportunity to focus on whole-family health and wellness from a family medicine perspective. I know that healthcare is not one-size-fits-all, and my ultimate goal is to empower patients in taking care of themselves through preventative medicine and finding the best approach to improving their health.”
