Illinois State House District 69 issued the following announcement on Jan. 10

Rep. Sosnowski announces resignation from Rockford Christian Schools effective mid-January

State Representative Joe Sosnowski, R-Rockford, announced yesterday his decision to resign from his position as Director of Advancement at Rockford Christian Schools effective January 17 in order to pursue a Masters in Public Administration at Northern Illinois University and consulting in the private sector. He will assist the school as needed and will help with any ongoing projects in order to assure a smooth transition.

“I would like to thank our Superintendent, Paul Brandt, the board, and the entire faculty and staff of Rockford Christian for their friendship and support. The past 11 years at Rockford Christian have been a blessing beyond words. I have been proud to help with capital campaign projects including the Bertrand Science and Technology Building, library and commons renovations, building of the new residence hall, campus expansions, and much more.

“I am proud of my time here and a lot has been accomplished. Certainly no accomplishments are the result of any one individual, but rather, by everyone working together. In that line of thinking, I am proud to have worked with the Board, administration, staff, families, and donors who together have accomplished so much during the time that I have been with the school.”

During Rep. Sosnowski’s time, the school raised nearly $8.5 million dollars, the school funded and built the Bertrand Science and Technology Building, updated the library, commons, and numerous other renovations and improvements, helped support the beginning of the Illinois Tax Credit Scholarship program, raised scholarship funds, assisted in a variety of areas including the Athletic and Fine Arts Boosters, started the school’s first endowment, and helped with the international program and two recent building projects (residence hall and fitness/fine arts center) that expanded the campus and secured land for a future elementary school.

“I fully support the direction and leadership at the school and look forward to many more great things to come. My family and I will, of course, still be a part of the RCS family…just in a different way. I look forward to Rockford Christian’s future and seeing my children continue to grow and develop in a nurturing environment with wonderful teachers and staff. The lives that are positively affected is what is most important as we see young people grow and mature into adulthood with a strong foundation in our Christian faith.”

Sosnowski will continue to work as State Representative for the 69th District representing portions of Rockford, Winnebago County and Boone County while pursuing a Masters degree at Northern Illinois University and consulting in the private sector.
