Village of Rockton Board of Trustees met Aug. 15.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

Mayor Peterson called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm.

Present: Mayor Peterson, Mr. Baumgartner, Mr. Danielson, Mrs. Honkamp, Ms. May, Mr. Winters and Atty. Szeto

Staff present: Mr. Costello, Ms. Diduch and Chief Hollinger

Also present: Chief Wilson – Rockton Fire Protection District (RFPD)

Absent: Mr. York

APPROVAL OF MINUTES

Motion by Mr. Winters, second by Mrs. Honkamp, to waive the reading of the August 1, 2023 Village Board meeting minutes. All ayes. Motion approved 5-0.

AMENDMENTS TO THE AGENDA

Mr. Winters stated that he would like to add a consensus for liability insurance for the Goldie Floberg building. Motion by Ms. May to approve the amendments to the agenda, second by Mr. Baumgartner. All ayes. Motion approved 5-0.

PUBLIC COMMENT

None.

MAYOR PETERSON

The Village Clerk swore in Officer Matthew Baade to the Rockton Police Department.

VILLAGE ATTORNEY

None.

ZONING

None.

PUBLIC SAFETY AND LEGAL & BUDGET – MR. WINTERS

Mr. Winters shared the Rockton Police Department activity summary from August 1st – 15th with the Village Board.

Chief Wilson provided the activity report for the RFPD. Chief Wilson stated that they have had 816 calls from January 1st – July 31st and a total of $343,800 in fire loss. Chief Wilson also thanked Ms. Diduch for helping them with the mulch pile on Wagon Wheel Road that was a code enforcement issue. Chief Wilson said that they haven’t been called back there at all.

Motion by Mr. Winters to ratify the consensus for the special event liquor license for the Rockton Lions Club “Jack Lovejoy Memorial Golf Outing” to be held on Saturday, September 9th from 8 am – 6 pm at Macktown Golf Course, second by Mrs. Honkamp. Roll call. All ayes. Motion approved 5-0.

Mr. Winters asked for a consensus to purchase liability insurance for the Goldie Floberg property at a cost not to exceed $1,500. The Village Board was okay with this.

ADMINISTRATION – MR. YORK

None.

WATER, SEWER, AND GARBAGE – MS. MAY

None.

COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT – MR. DANIELSON

None.

BUILDINGS AND PARKS – MRS. HONKAMP

Mrs. Honkamp shared the activity summary for the Parks/Rec Department for the last 2 weeks with the Village Board.

Motion by Mrs. Honkamp to ratify the consensus for the special events application for “Blues & BBQ” to be held on Wednesday, September 6th from 5-8 pm in Settlers Park, second by Mr. Winters. Roll call. All ayes. Motion approved 5-0.

Motion by Mrs. Honkamp to approve the special events application for the Rockton Lion’s Club “Last Roar Car Show” to be held on Sunday, October 1st from 8 am – 3 pm in Settlers Park, second by Ms. May. Roll call. All ayes. Motion approved 5-0.

STREETS AND WALKS – MR. BAUMGARTNER

Motion by Mr. Baumgartner to approve the purchase requisition for S & J Sealcoating to sealcoat Village Hall, Hawick, Tacchi USA, FIBS and Green Street lots at a cost of $12,343, second by Ms. May. Roll call. All ayes. Motion approved 5-0.

EXECUTIVE SESSION

Motion by Mr. Winters to adjourn from regular session at 7:10 pm and go into executive session pursuant to 5 ILCS 120/2(c)(6) to discuss the setting of a price for sale or lease of property owned by the public body, second by Mr. Baumgartner. All ayes. Motion approved 5-0.

Mayor Peterson called the Village Board meeting back to regular session at 7:33 pm. Roll Call. All Village Board members were present except for Mr. York.

ACTION ON ITEMS ARISING OUT OF EXECUTIVE SESSION

PAYMENT OF BILLS

Motion by Mr. Winters, second by Mrs. Honkamp, to pay bills in the amount of $337,549.36. Roll call. All ayes. Motion approved 5-0.

Hearing no further business, motion by Mr. Winters, second by Mrs. Honkamp, to adjourn at 7:35 pm. All ayes. Motion approved 5-0.
