Village of Rockton Board of Trustees met Aug. 6.

Mayor Peterson called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm.

Present: Mayor Peterson, Mr. Baumgartner, Mr. Danielson, Mrs. Honkamp, Ms. May, Mr. Winters, Mr. York and Atty. Szeto

Staff present: Dan Barber, Sally Bennett, Chief Hollinger and Connie Kieffer

APPROVAL OF MINUTES

Motion by Mr. Winters, second by Mr. York, to waive the reading of the July 16, 2024 Village Board meeting minutes. All ayes. Motion approved 6-0.

Motion by Mr. Winters, second by Mrs. Honkamp, to approve the July 16, 2024 Village Board meeting minutes. All ayes. Motion approved 6-0.

AMENDMENTS TO THE AGENDA

Mayor Peterson stated that he would like to add Resolution 2024-112 under Item #2 under himself. Motion by Mr. Winters to approve the amendments to the agenda, second by Mrs. Honkamp. All ayes. Motion approved 6-0.

PUBLIC COMMENT

None.

MAYOR PETERSON

Motion by Mr. Winters to approve Resolution 2024-112: A Resolution of the Village of Rockton, Illinois Reappointing Amanda McMahon as the Village’s Representative to the Board of the Stateline Mass Transit District, second by Mr. Baumgartner. Roll call. All ayes. Motion approved 6-0.

Motion by Ms. May to approve August 3rd as “Talcott Family Heritage Day”, second by Mrs. Honkamp. All ayes. Motion approved 6-0. Mayor Peterson thanked Ms. May for representing the Village and presenting a certificate to the family since he was out of town.

Mayor Peterson read the “Illinois Municipal Treasurer’s Week” proclamation to the Village Board.

ZONING

None.

PUBLIC SAFETY AND LEGAL & BUDGET – MR. WINTERS

Mr. Winters shared the Rockton Police Department activity summary from July 16th – 31st with the Village Board.

Motion by Mr. Winters to approve the special event liquor license for the Rockton Lions Club “Jack Lovejoy Memorial Golf Outing” to be held on Saturday, September 7th from 8 AM until 5 PM at Macktown Forest Preserve, second by Mr. Baumgartner. Roll call. All ayes. Motion approved 6-0.

Motion by Mr. Winters to approve the camera system installation at the Rockton Athletic Fields at a cost of $14,269.72, second by Mr. Baumgartner. Roll call. All ayes. Motion approved 6-0.

ADMINISTRATION – MR. YORK

None.

WATER, SEWER, AND GARBAGE – MS. MAY

Motion by Ms. May to approve the purchase requisition for Ferguson Waterworks for fire hydrant parts in the amount of $22,378, second by Mr. Baumgartner. Roll call. All ayes. Motion approved 6-0.

COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT – MR. DANIELSON

None.

BUILDINGS AND PARKS – MRS. HONKAMP

Mrs. Honkamp shared the Parks/Rec activity summary from the past two weeks with the Village Board.

Motion by Mrs. Honkamp to approve the special events application for “Jack’s Joy Ride” to be held on Saturday, October 5th from 2 – 6 PM in Settlers Park, second by Ms. May. Roll call. All ayes. Motion approved 6-0.

STREETS AND WALKS – MR. BAUMGARTNER

Motion by Mr. Baumgartner to approve the purchase requisition for William Charles Electric for UPS system installation at Rockton Road and Highway 2 in the amount of $8,100, second by Ms. May. Roll call. All ayes. Motion approved 6-0.

Motion by Mr. Baumgartner to approve Resolution 2024-111: Authorizes Appropriation of $275,000 in Motor Fuel Tax Funds from the Illinois Department of Transportation, second by Mr. York. Roll call. All ayes. Motion approved 6-0.
