Village of Rockton Budget & Finance Committee met June 18.

Here are the minutes provided by the committee:

Chairman Winters called the regular meeting of the Budget & Finance Committee to order at 6:30 pm. Members present: Mayor Peterson, Sally Bennett, Scott Danielson, Connie Kieffer, Jodi May and Dave Winters

Staff present: Dan Barber, Tricia Diduch, Arianne Honkamp and Chief Hollinger

Motion by Ms. May, second by Mr. Danielson, to waive the reading of and approve the minutes of June 4, 2024. All ayes. Motion approved 3-0.

PUBLIC COMMENT

None.

SPECIAL WARRANT CONSIDERATIONS

None.

RECOMMENDATION OF PAYMENT

Bills were reviewed and recommended for approval in the amount of $495,200.59.

MAYOR PETERSON

Mayor Peterson advised the Committee that there is an updated version of the 2024-2025 budget and Mrs. Bennett went over those changes with the Committee. Mr. Danielson had a few questions about the CARES funds and the anticipated cash on hand. Mrs. Bennett stated that she feels good about the budget and that she will be watching and keeping after it all year.

VILLAGE TREASURER, SALLY BENNETT

Mrs. Bennett provided a rough draft (pie chart) of the Village’s cash balances for the Committee to review. Mrs. Bennett stated that she is trying to reduce bank accounts and stated that some things can be combined. Mrs. Bennett said that she likes to use pie charts, but that if anyone has other ideas to improve this to let her know.

Mrs. Bennett added that she is actively trying to find a CPA to be another set of eyes for the Village. Mrs. Bennett stated that Jaye Quimby is trying to retire and suggested that the Village should maybe reach out to Sikich. Mrs. Bennett said that she isn’t sure what their rates would be, but that she can put together a request for proposal (RFP).

DAVE WINTERS, CHAIRMAN

Mr. Winters stated that Ordinance 2024-11: An Ordinance Providing the Appropriation of Funds for the Operation of the Village of Rockton for the Fiscal Year Beginning June 1, 2024 and Ending May 31, 2025 is up for approval at the Village Board meeting later in the evening. The Committee was okay with this.
