Village of Rockton Budget & Finance Committee met May 20.

Here are the minutes provided by the committee:

Chairman Winters called the regular meeting of the Budget & Finance Committee to order at 6:31 pm. Members present: Mayor Peterson, Sally Bennett, Dan Baumgartner, Connie Kieffer, Dave Winters and Justin York

Staff present: Dan Barber, Tricia Diduch, Chief Hollinger and Atty Szeto (6:35 pm)

Motion by Mr. Baumgartner, second by Mr. York, to waive the reading of and approve the minutes of May 6, 2025. All ayes. Motion approved 3-0.

PUBLIC COMMENT

None.

SPECIAL WARRANT CONSIDERATIONS

None.

RECOMMENDATION OF PAYMENT

Bills were reviewed and recommended for approval in the amount of $260,977.13

MAYOR PETERSON

Mayor Peterson advised the Committee that he received an email from the IEPA and that residents in the Village don’t have to disclose the PFAS in the water if they’re selling their property.

Mayor Peterson stated that he is going to ask Atty. Szeto about the garbage contract renewal.

Mayor Peterson added that Mr. Barber and Ms. Diduch are working on announcing the new Public Works employee for the Village along with the test pilot program for Well #5.

VILLAGE TREASURER, SALLY BENNETT

Mrs. Bennett stated that we are at the end of April with the finance report and that everything looks great.

Mrs. Bennett said that she took another look at sales tax and that she may bump it up a bit in the new budget.

DAVE WINTERS, CHAIRMAN

Mr. Winters discussed Draft #3 of the budget with the Committee. Mrs. Bennett stated that the general fund is $39,888 in the hole, but there have been many changes since last Thursday. Mrs. Bennett also went over the reserves in the budget with the Committee. Mr. Winters said that we may want to change the name from “transfer in from reserves” as it’s listed in the budget because this is a little confusing. The Village Clerk also stated that she will have the public hearing published for the appropriations ordinance if the Village Board is looking to pass this at the first meeting in June.
