There have been 73,808 confirmed coronavirus cases in Winnebago County as of Feb. 4, with 763 deaths linked to the virus, according to data from the state Department of Public Health (IDPH).

Chicago (547,810 cases) and Cook County (542,132 cases) posted the highest numbers statewide. Chicago’s death toll from the virus stands at 6,998, while Cook County recorded 6,499 deaths, according to the IDPH.

Illinois residents who have been tested for COVID-19 now number 51,846,053, the department reported. And the age group with the most confirmed cases was under 20, with 659,502 people in the age group testing positive for the virus.

Among all those testing positive in Illinois, 1,376,379 were male and 1,536,903 were female, the IDPH said. Male deaths linked to coronavirus numbered 17,086, while female deaths stood at 14,210.

Broken down according to race, the fatalities consisted of 19,602 whites, 5,760 African-Americans, 4,426 Hispanics, 986 Asians, and 522 belonging to other races or who did not provide their ethnicity before they died.
