Loves Park Council discontinues leaf vacuuming

The city of Loves Park Council met Dec. 5 to discontinue leaf vacuuming.

Here are the meeting's minutes, as provided by the council:

The Loves Park municipal government includes 10 aldermen, who attend City Council meetings and vote on City issues. The City is divided into 5 different wards. The citizens of each ward directly elect 2 aldermen, who serve 4 year terms.

Mayor Darryl Lindberg called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m.

City Treasurer John Danielson opened the meeting with an invocation, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.

The Journal of Proceedings for the regular meeting of November 28, 2016 was approved as submitted by the city clerk on a motion by Alderman Little. Second by Alderman Schlensker. Motion carried. 9 Ayes (Aldermen Schlensker, Allton, Warden, Jury, Little, Pruitt, Frykman, Peterson, Holmes) 1 Present (Alderman Jacobson)

Received a letter from Lori Gummow, Executive Director of Keep Northern Illinois Beautiful, thanking the City of Loves Park for the donation to the 2016 Christmas Tree Recycling Program. Placed on file.

Received a Special Event Permit application from Tree–Ripe Citrus to sell produce at the Farm & Fleet parking lot, 7300 E. Riverside Blvd., December 16, 2016 and January 27, 2017, from 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Referred to Alderman Peterson of the Codes and Regulations Committee.

Alderman Peterson of the Codes and Regulations Committee moved to approve a Special Event Permit application from Tree-Ripe Citrus to sell produce at the Farm & Fleet parking lot, 7300 E. Riverside Blvd., December 16, 2016 and January 27, 2017, from 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Second by Alderman Frykman. Motion carried by voice vote.

Mayor Lindberg announced that leaf vacuuming has been discontinued due to the recent snowfall.

Mayor Lindberg announced that city offices will be closed Friday, December 23, Monday, December 26, and Friday, December 30, 2016 in observance of the Christmas and New Year holidays.

Alderman Pruitt moved that the city council meeting scheduled for December 26, 2016 be canceled. Second by Alderman Little. Motion carried by voice vote.

Mayor Lindberg announced that there is a Salvation Army Food barrel located outside the Mayor’s office for food donations until Friday.

Alderman Jury presented the Water Department bills dated November 28, 2016, in the amount of $36,539.62, and moved that they be paid. Second by Alderman Jacobson. Motion carried. 10 Ayes (Aldermen Schlensker, Allton, Warden, Jacobson, Jury, Little, Pruitt, Frykman, Peterson, Holmes)

Alderman Jury presented the General Fund and all other bills dated November 28, 2016, in the amount of $355,009.73, and moved that they be paid. Second by Alderman Jacobson. Motion carried. 10 Ayes (Aldermen Schlensker, Allton, Warden, Jacobson, Jury, Little, Pruitt, Frykman, Peterson, Holmes)

Alderman Little presented the Police Department Report dated December 5, 2016; presented Fire Department Reports dated December 4, 2016, to be placed on file.

Alderman Jacobson presented the Water Department Report dated December 5, 2016; presented the Street Department Report dated December 5, 2016, to be placed on file.

Alderman Pruitt presented the Building Department Report for November 2016; New Commercial - $885,920.00; New Residential - $107,510.00; Others - $940,566.00; Total Permits – 90; Permit Fees - $20,625.00.

Alderman Jury of the Finance and Administration Committee presented the General Fund and all other bills dated December 5, 2016, in the amount of $100,032.21, for consideration at the next city council meeting; presented the minutes from the committee meeting held November 28, 2016, to be placed on file.

Alderman Jacobson of the Public Works Committee presented the Water Department list of bills dated December 5, 2016, in the amount of $120,843.88, for consideration at the next city council meeting.

Mayor Lindberg presented the names of Sue Elliott and Jesse Daughtry for reappointment to the Loves Park Civil Service Commission for individual terms to expire December 31, 2019.

Alderman Jury moved to approve the reappointments of Sue Elliott and Jesse Daughtry for reappointment to the Loves Park Civil Service Commission for individual terms to expire December 31, 2019. Second by Alderman Jacobson. Motion carried. 10 Ayes (Aldermen Schlensker, Allton, Warden, Jacobson, Jury, Little, Pruitt, Frykman, Peterson, Holmes)

Alderman Jury presented the following resolution and moved for its adoption: RESOLVED, that by the adoption of this Resolution, pursuant to the requirements of Illinois Compiled Statutes, 5 ILCS 120/2.06, the Mayor and City Council have assembled in closed session to review all executive session minutes, and determined that a need for confidentiality does not exist as to the executive session minutes for April 25, 2016 (Parts 1, 2, and 3), May 9, 2016, and June 6, 2016. Now, therefore be it resolved that the executive session minutes from these meetings are hereby released. Second by Alderman Jacobson. Motion carried. 10 Ayes (Aldermen Schlensker, Allton, Warden, Jacobson, Jury, Little, Pruitt, Frykman, Peterson, Holmes) RESOLUTION NO. 16-129

Alderman Jury moved that the meeting be adjourned. Second by Alderman Schlensker. Motion carried by voice vote. The meeting was adjourned at 6:12 p.m.
