Cherry Valley recreation board reviews expenses

The village of Cherry Valley Recreation Board Committee met December 14 to review expenses.

Here are the meeting's minutes, as provided by the committee:

VILLAGE OF CHERRY VALLEY, ILLINOIS “SPECIAL” RECREATION BOARD MEETING WEDNESDAY DECEMBER 14, 2016

Chairman Lori Kuhn called the meeting to order at 7:10 PM. A Roll Call was taken by Heather Church:

MEMBERS: DINA BRANDT PRESENT DAN JAROCKI PRESENT JILL WEDIG PRESENT NATALIE SCIBONA PRESENT TINA KITCHEN ABSENT STACEY CHESTER PRESENT

YOUTH MEMBERS: LUCA BRANDT PRESENT

Others Present: President Jim E. Claeyssen, Trustee Dave Schroeder, Village Clerk Kathy Trimble, and Scott Kramer

ADOPT THE AGENDA: Natalie Scibona moved to adopt the agenda. Dina Brandt seconded. Motion carried by voice vote.

APPROVE THE MINUTES: Dan Jarocki moved to approve the minutes from the November 2, 2016 meeting. Stacey Chester seconded. Motion carried by voice vote.

EX-OFFICIO’S REPORT: DAVID SCHROEDER. Village Clerk Kathy Trimble explained to the Recreation Board that they need to make sure that they are always using the Tax Exempt cards when making purchases for items for their events. Recreation Board should not be paying any tax.

PUBLIC COMMENT: None.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS:

1. Santa Event (November 27, 2016) – Jill Wedig will finish the Santa event report and hand them out at the January meeting. Dina Brandt reported that there were 94 letters to Santa 2 of which did not have a return address. Stacy Chester will cross reference the names on the letter with library contacts. Jill Wedig had already purchased the thank you gift certificate for the Belts. Dan Jarocki reported that he used all 6 cans of the hot chocolate and Natalie Scibona reported that there were left over plates and napkins to use next year. Lori Kuhn stated that before the log cabin is used again it needs to be cleaned. The left over cookies were distributed the to the Cherry Valley Police, Fire, and Administration departments.

2. Luminary Night – Luminary night is Sunday December 18, 2016 starting at 6:00 PM. Village Treasure Karen Melloch distributed the posted to the businesses around the Village. Nothing else reported.

3. Bounce Night (January 22, 2017) – Gymnastics Academy of Rockford will invoice the Village for the bounce night event. The Cherry Valley Men’s club volunteered to sponsor this event. Doors open at 5:15 PM and Stacey Chester will be there for check in. Nothing else reported.

4. Skate Night – Jill Wedig is still waiting for Carlson Ice Arena to do their winter scheduling. Skate night will be in the beginning of March like in previous years. Nothing else reported.

5. Fun Bowl (January 28, 2017) – Natalie Scibona reported that a head count needs to be in a week prior to the event to Cherry Bowl. Natalie Scibona moves to request $300.00 to purchase 30 $10.00 gift cards for Fun Bowl prizes. Dina Brandt seconded. Motion carried by voice vote.

NEW BUSINESS:

1. Budget – The committee reviewed there expenses for all the events held up to

this point. Nothing else reported.

2. Holiday Lights – The 2016 Holiday light winners are, in no particular order: 316 East Street, 3415 Valley Woods, 117 S. Cherry Street, 3351 S. Mill Road, and 8984 Yankee Clipper. All winners will receive a $25 gift card to Menards.

ADJOURNMENT: Chairman Kuhn entertained a motion to adjourn. Stacey Chester moved to adjourn at 8:10 PM. Dina Brandt seconded. Motion carried.
