Rockford ranked 197th in state in lottery ticket sales

The city of Rockford had the 197th highest lottery ticket net sales statewide per capita for the month of February 2016 -- up 104 spots from its January ranking.

The per capita lottery ticket sales in Rockford was $27.70 per person.

Based on monthly sales records obtained by the Rockford Sun, Rockford generated $4,106,712.50 in net sales from its 132 lottery retailers in February 2016, compared to $3,799,053 in February 2015.


The city of Rockford is in Winnebago County, and has a population of 148,278, according to 2010 census data. Neighboring municipalities are Cherry Valley, Loves Park, New Milford, Davis Junction and Machesney Park.

Average sales for municipalities in the region in February 2016 was $29,792.16.

Rockford's top lottery retailer is Schnucks Markets Inc #750 located at 6410 E State St, Rockford, IL 61108.

Schnucks Markets Inc #750 generated 4 percent of Rockford's February 2016 lottery ticket sales and 3 percent of Winnebago County's sales that month, which was $5,630,718.50.

A close look at sales by city shows that the top five cities with the highest lottery revenue per capita in Winnebago County in 2015 were South Beloit, Cherry Valley, Durand, Roscoe and Rockford.

Statewide, the top five cities with the highest lottery revenue per capita were Forest View, Burnt Prairie, McCook, Mapleton and Merrionette Park.

The top five cities in the state generated $5,496,719 in net sales -- 1 percent of the state's 2015 net sales amounting to $2,793,271,709.50.
