South Beloit ranked 40th in state in lottery ticket sales

The city of South Beloit had the 40th highest lottery ticket net sales statewide per capita for the month of February 2016 -- up 7 spots from its January ranking.

The per capita lottery ticket sales in South Beloit was $50.93 per person.

Based on monthly sales records obtained by the Rockford Sun, South Beloit generated $391,160.50 in net sales from its 18 lottery retailers in February 2016, compared to $381,198 in February 2015.


The city of South Beloit is in Winnebago County, and has a population of 7,680, according to 2010 census data. Neighboring municipalities are Rockton and Roscoe.

Average sales for municipalities in the region in February 2016 was $29,792.16.

Everetts generated 20 percent of South Beloit's February 2016 lottery ticket sales and 2 percent of Winnebago County's sales that month, which was $5,630,718.50.

Statewide, the top five cities with the highest lottery revenue per capita were Forest View, Burnt Prairie, McCook, Mapleton and Merrionette Park.

The top five cities in the state generated $5,496,719 in net sales -- 1 percent of the state's 2015 net sales amounting to $2,793,271,709.50.
