Analysis: Belvidere pays $4.47 for every $1 pensioners contribute to Belvidere Firefighters Pension Fund

Taxpayers contributed 80.5 percent of the $972,777 the Belvidere Firefighters Pension Fund brought in last year, or $4.47 for every $1 from pension members, according to a Rockford Sun analysis of the latest data reported to the Illinois Department of Insurance Pension Division.

In all, Belvidere contributed $783,447 to the fund, which saw a $13,729 increase in revenue over 2015. Members contributed $175,173, or 18 percent, in 2016. Another $14,157 came from other unspecified sources.
