Swedish American Hospital issued the following announcement on Aug. 14.
More than 23 million children and teenagers in the United States between the ages of two and 19 are obese or overweight. To help combat this problem, SwedishAmerican’s Ryan Jury Child Development Learning Center is hosting a FREE health fair on Saturday, September 15, in conjunction with National Childhood Obesity Awareness Month. The event will take place from 11 AM to 2 PM at the UW Health Sports Factory, 305 S. Madison Street, Rockford.
Families and children of all ages are invited to attend the FREE health fair that will teach families and children new ways to be active, make good choices and stay healthy. The event will feature kid-friendly “fun-n-fit” activities for children of all ages. Dieticians and providers from SwedishAmerican will be on-site to provide health information and answer questions and families can browse a variety of healthcare booths. Additionally, kids can meet SAM, our SwedishAmerican mascot, and enter into a drawing to win a brand new bike and other fun raffle baskets.
The health fair is FREE and open to the public. For further information, please contact the Ryan Jury Child Development Learning Center at (779) 696-9501.
