Rockton School District 140 students suspended 86 times in a single school year

Rockton School District 140 reported 86 suspensions for 2016-17, according to the latest student discipline report by the Illinois State Board of Education.

According to the report, the district expelled or suspended 86 students during the year. That equates to 5.6 percent of the 1,534 students enrolled.

Of the 62 in-school suspensions, all of whom were elementary or middle schoolers.

The district reported that most in-school suspensions were given for unspecified reasons. The category includes 61 incidents. There were one incidents of alcohol. For 62 incidents, students were suspended for a day or less.

Of the 24 out-of-school suspensions, all of whom were elementary or middle schoolers.

The district reported that most out-of-school suspensions were given for unspecified reasons. The category includes 22 incidents. There were one incidents of alcohol. For 20 incidents, students were suspended for a day or less.
