Kinnikinnick Community Consolidated School District 131 students suspended 118 times in a single school year

Kinnikinnick Community Consolidated School District 131 reported 118 suspensions for 2016-17, according to the latest student discipline report by the Illinois State Board of Education.

According to the report, the district expelled or suspended 118 students during the year. That equates to 6.8 percent of the 1,743 students enrolled.

Of the 101 in-school suspensions, 90 were given to boys and 11 were given to girls, all of whom were elementary or middle schoolers.

The district reported that most in-school suspensions were given for unspecified reasons. The category includes 73 incidents. There were 24 incidents of violence without physical injury. For 100 incidents, students were suspended for a day or less.

Of the 17 out-of-school suspensions, all of whom were elementary or middle schoolers.

The district reported that most out-of-school suspensions were given for violence without physical injury. The category includes eight incidents. There were eight incidents of unspecified reasons. For 13 incidents, students were suspended for a day or less.
