Village of Rockton Administration Committee met Aug. 20.

Here is the minutes provided by the Committee:

Chairman Winters called the regular meeting of the Administration Committee to order at 5:30 pm. Members present: Mayor Adams, Arianne Honkamp, John Peterson and Dave Winters

Staff present: Tricia Diduch, Scott Fridly (6:08 pm) and Jodi May (5:35 pm)

Absent: Chief Dickson

Motion by Mr. Peterson, second by Mrs. Honkamp, to waive the reading of and approve the minutes of August 6, 2018. All ayes. Motion approved 3-0.

PUBLIC COMMENT

Jordan Carabelli, Eagle Scout, presented information to the Committee in reference to a project that he would like to complete at Goldie Floberg Center. Jordan stated that he would like to build a permanent monument sign for the center. Ms. Diduch gave Jordan her business card and stated that she would need some information from him (size, color, location, etc.) and that he could email her the information and ask if he had any zoning questions about the sign. Laura Speer, Director of Fund Development for Goldie Floberg, also attended the meeting. Ms. Speer inquired about farming the property to the south of Goldie Floberg Center and asked if the center needed to notify the neighbors about this. Ms. Diduch advised that they didn’t need to notify residents that the property is going to be farmed.

THE MAYOR – DALE ADAMS

Mayor Adams advised the Committee that he and Ms. Diduch met with a hotel representative about the possible locations on Rockton Road. Mayor Adams said that the hotel would have 50-60 rooms, a pool and a small banquet area. Mayor Adams said that the hotel would need two acres of land in order to develop the hotel. Mayor Adams added that the AmericInn Hotel & Suites by Wyndham also has a loyalty program. Mayor Adams stated that they are meeting with the hotel representatives again tomorrow and that they are looking for a few people that may be interested as investors for the hotel.

PUBLIC SAFETY & LEGAL – DAVE WINTERS, CHAIRMAN

Mr. Winters stated that Resolution 2018-117: Side Letter of Agreement Between the Village of Rockton, Illinois and the Fraternal Order of Police is up for approval at the Village Board meeting on August 21, 2018. The Committee was okay with this.

COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT & BUDGET – JOHN PETERSON

Mr. Peterson discussed the $1,500 donation for 50 North and stated that this will be coming out of the budget under downtown development. This is up for approval at the Village Board meeting on August 21, 2018. The Committee was okay with this.

ADMINISTRATION – ARIANNE HONKAMP

None.

THE CHIEF – STEVE DICKSON

None.

PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT ADMINISTRATOR – TRICIA DIDUCH

Ms. Diduch stated that the Village’s Rockton Christmas walk has been named one of the top five events in the Rockford Register Star’s “What Rocks”.

Ms. Diduch added that despite the bad weather at the Rockton River Market last week, they had 35 people for Part III of the Historic Preservation Commission’s historic walking tour. Ms. Diduch advised that there are only two more markets left for the season.

EXECUTIVE SESSION

None.

ANY OTHER BUSINESS ALLOWED BY LAW

Mrs. May discussed the letter that was sent to the Village from Atty. Gino Galluzzo in reference to the property on E. Rockton Road owned by Holden Rockton Road, LLC. Mrs. May explained their request for two full accesses on Rockton Road and wanted the Committee to be aware of the discussion and be on the same page. Mrs. May stated that this will be discussed further in the Public Works Committee and that Atty. Galluzzo was requesting that a package deal be made on the accesses and sales tax rebate at the same time for the property.

Motion by Mr. Peterson, second by Mrs. Honkamp to adjourn at 6:11 pm.
