SwedishAmerican Hospital issued the following announcement on Sept. 11.
SwedishAmerican is kicking off a new Boy Scouts Explorer Program for local high school students on Tuesday, October 9 at 6:30 PM at SwedishAmerican Hospital, 1401 E. State Street, Rockford. The Explorer Program is a career education program offered by Irving, Tex.-based Learning for Life, a subsidiary of the Boy Scouts of America. Participants are young men and women who are at least 14 (and have completed 8th grade) and not yet 21 years old.
SwedishAmerican is the only local health system to sponsor an Explorer Program. Employees from the organization serve as leaders, working with students once per month to explore a variety of career opportunities, including:
• Radiology and Medical Imaging
• Emergency Department
• Lab and Blood Bank
• Pharmacy
• Bio-Med and Engineering
• Sterile Processing
• Surgery
• Security
• Physical Therapy
