She makes her patients feel safe. Congratulations to Emily Meinert—our December DAISY Foundation award winner for outstanding nursing care.
Emily, a nurse in our emergency department, was nominated for her display of compassion and professionalism in recognizing a victim of sexual assault. Emily’s nominator said she’s witnessed many nursing interactions while volunteering with Rockford Sexual Assault Counseling for the past three years and Emily did so many things right.
As she worked, Emily explained everything to the patient, sometimes multiple times. She was kind, friendly and warm. The patient had a unique story and Emily didn’t show any judgement. Instead, she showed empathy in both her words and actions and spent more than five hours with this patient.
Emily, thank you for your compassion. You’re one more reason our patients know they can #TrustTheBest.
