City of Loves Park issued the following announcement on Jan. 12.
The City of Loves Park would like to congratulate Matthew Fread of our Public Works Department on being recognized by the City of Rockford Police Department with a “Citizen Citation for Lifesaving”.
On November 12, 2018, Matthew, during his normal daily work as a Public Works employee, went beyond the call of duty to perform lifesaving procedures on a person who was suffering from an apparent drug overdose. The actions and quick thinking taken by Matthew saved the life of this person.
Matthew is fine example of how our great employees serve the citizens of our community. Again, we offer our congratulations on this well deserved recognition and are very proud of Matthew Fread. #cityoflovespark
