Loves Park Police Department issued the following announcement on Jan. 29.
A shout-out to Denny Seydel. Denny was seen shoveling some pretty heavy snow from around a fire hydrant on Monday, which was directly across the street from a school.
Many other residents have done the same, but since we had the opportunity to grab a photo of Denny working around the hydrant, we thought it would be a good time to thank him and those who have done the same for their service to the community.
During snow storms, hydrants can become completely covered and not visible to the fire department. It only takes a few minutes to clean the snow from around them, but could make a huge difference in the time of a fire emergency.
