City of Loves Park issued the following announcement on March 6.
Last night at the City Council meeting, Dr. Kathleen Smith of Companion Animal Clinic was recognized for 27-years of service to our K-9 program.
During her care for K-9's Leri, Nory and Rico, Dr. Smith has generously given her time and service to care for our police dogs. She has been called upon and always responded on many nights and weekends to care for our four-legged friends when they have been injured, or were sick.
Dr. Smith has donated routine care, emergency care and surgical care when needed. She has stitched up our dogs, performed medical procedures, coordinated with other animal medical facilities, provided guidance and has always played a very significant role in keeping our K-9's healthy and comfortable during their years of service.
