Mercy Rockford Health System issued the following announcement on March 15.
The Mercyhealth Development Foundation was excited to be receive a generous donation from a charitable organization, Sadie’s Dream for a Cure, on Thursday, March 14, at Mercyhealth’s Javon Bea Hospital and Physician Clinic-Riverside.
The organization selected Mercyhealth to receive its donation of 50 handmade, colorful tote bags filled with games, toys, books and other activities that will be given to pediatric patients receiving care throughout Mercyhealth.
Sadie’s Dream for a Cure is a 501(c) 3 organization that was created six years ago when six-month-old Sadie was diagnosed with cancer. Members of Sadie’s extended family wanted to find a way to lift the spirits of children like Sadie who were hospitalized due to illness or injury.
The fully volunteer-based organization has made countless donations of toys and games to hospitals throughout the country, providing 230 bags alone in March to children from birth through age 16. Sadie is now seven-years-old and enjoys playing soccer and performing ballet in Texas where she resides with her family.
