SWEDISHAMERICAN HOSPITAL: SwedishAmerican Celebrates 10th Anniversary of Belvidere Medical Center

Celebration

SwedishAmerican Hospital issued the following announcement on April 29.

SwedishAmerican celebrated the 10th anniversary of its Medical Center in Belvidere this week.

The facility opened in April of 2009 at 1625 S. State Street in Belvidere and has had approximately 36,000 outpatient and 14,000 emergency department visits a year ever since.

“Belvidere and Boone County have embraced SwedishAmerican Medical Center Belvidere since the renovated facility opened 10 short years ago,” said Fiona Springman, administrator at the Belvidere Medical Center. “We are proud to be able to bring this level of care to a community that went without an emergency room for 10 years prior to SwedishAmerican acquiring this facility.”

The center is home to about 100 Swedes employees, and many of them came out Monday to celebrate the anniversary at an on-site open house.

“When we first acquired this facility, one objective right from the beginning was to really wrap our arms around this community,” said Don Daniels, SwedishAmerican Executive VP and Chief Operating Officer. “In turn, this community has responded by fully embracing us, and I think that’s a credit to all our staff members and leadership who have worked so hard to serve our patients. We see even more opportunities in the future and are looking forward to continuing to grow here.”
