SwedishAmerican Hospital issued the following announcement on April 29.

SwedishAmerican and Goodwill Industries of Northern Illinois are pleased to announce that 4,136 pounds of items were donated by SwedishAmerican employees in this year’s Goodwill Donation Drive.

SwedishAmerican’s annual drive is the largest in the region for Goodwill. This year’s drive ran from March 25 through April 8 and included 18 drop-off locations around the health system. Employees contributed used clothing, computers, household items, small electronics, toys, games, sporting goods, shoes, jewelry and purses.

“Goodwill is grateful for SwedishAmerican Health System’s continued support through this annual donation drive,” stated Ben Bernsten, President of Goodwill Industries of Northern Illinois. “The SwedishAmerican donations this year were exceptionally bountiful and will help provide individuals in the community with the opportunity to experience the power and dignity of work through Goodwill’s employment programs.”

This year’s total of 4,136 pounds more than doubled what is usually donated annually from SwedishAmerican employees.

“SwedishAmerican is proud of the long-standing partnership we’ve had with Goodwill Industries of Northern Illinois,” said SwedishAmerican President and CEO Dr. Michael Born. “We fully support Goodwill’s programs and share in their mission of giving back to our community.”
