SWEDISHAMERICAN HOSPITAL: SwedishAmerican Welcomes New APRN Tracy Palmer to Belvidere Clinic

Business

SwedishAmerican Hospital issued the following announcement on June 13.

SwedishAmerican is pleased to welcome new advanced practice registered nurse Tracy Palmer to the Belvidere Clinic (1700 Henry Luckow Lane, Belvidere).

Palmer comes to SwedishAmerican with a board certification in family practice and special medical interests in cardiac health, chronic disease management, diabetes management and patient education. She received her medical degree Olivet Nazarene University, is a member of the American Association of Diabetes Educators and was a Henry C Anderson Quality Award recipient in 2015.

“I always knew I wanted to be a nurse, even at five years old,” Tracy said. “I wanted to be the person to put on the bandage and make someone feel better. It was not until I became a nurse that I knew I wanted to further my education and pursue becoming a Family Nurse Practitioner. Having worked with my patients who have chronic disease for over 20 years, I knew family medicine was my passion.

“My philosophy of care is patient focused. Autonomy is key to the success of a patient managing their chronic disease. I like meeting the patient where they are and working toward a plan of care based on the patient's goals and preferences. Each patient is unique, and promoting autonomy allows the patient to be themselves without compromising their beliefs all the while still meeting their needs.”
