SwedishAmerican Hospital issued the following announcement on June 13.
SwedishAmerican is pleased to announce that former long-time public relations specialist Jan Hagenlocher is the recipient of this year’s Dr. Bill Gorski Mission Award.
Hagenlocher was presented with the award at SwedishAmerican’s annual employee recognition banquet on June 7 at Giovanni’s Restaurant and Convention Center.
Now in its third year, the Dr. Gorski Mission Award is named after the former SwedishAmerican President and CEO and recognizes associates who live our motto: “Through excellence in healthcare and compassionate service, we care for our community.”
Hagenlocher was the face of SwedishAmerican for 33 years before retiring in 2011. She continues to volunteer for many organizations in Rockford, including United Way, Senior Follies, Nicholas Conservatory, SwedishAmerican Foundation and the Rockford Chamber of Commerce. She also greets hospital visitors by volunteering at the hospital information desk twice a week.
“Participating in community events and activities and helping other organizations has always been a big part of SwedishAmerican and myself,” Hagenlocher said. “And since retiring, I’ve continued to represent Swedes in many outside organizations.
“I am so honored, humbled and thankful for this award, and am looking forward to continuing to support Swedes. I do bleed purple.”
