MERCY ROCKFORD HEALTH SYSTEM: Mercyhealth Welcomes Orthopedic Specialist

Mercy Rockford Health System issued the following announcement on June 18.

Mercyhealth is pleased to welcome David A. Nielsen, DO, board certified orthopedic and hand surgery, fellowship trained hand, upper extremity and microvascular surgery, to its staff at Mercyhealth Orthopedic Specialists, 2350 N. Rockton Ave., Rockford.

His special interests include:

Orthopedic conditions of the upper extremity including hand, elbow and shoulder problems

Building relationships with his patients

“Connecting with my patients is an important part of developing the patient/provider relationship,” said Dr. Nielsen. “This allows me to help them understand their condition and treatment options and involves them in making decisions based on their needs.”

Dr. Nielsen earned his medical degree from Kirksville College in Kirksville, Missouri. He completed his residency at Ohio University, Grandview Hospital and Medical Center, Dayton, Ohio. Dr. Nielsen served his Hand, Upper Extremity and Microvascular Surgery fellowship at the University of South Florida, Tampa. He is certified by the America Osteopathic Board of Orthopedic Surgery with added certification in Hand Surgery.
