Kinnikinnick Community Consolidated School District 131 Board of Education met May 28.

Here is the minutes provided by the board:

A regular meeting of the Board of Education of the Kinnikinnick Community Consolidated School District No. 131 Winnebago County, Illinois was duly called and held at the Kinnikinnick School in Roscoe, Illinois, within the boundaries of said District. President Young called the meeting to order at 7:00 P.M.

Roll Call

Present: Carter, Diestelmeier, Meyers, Reese, Welch, White and Young

Others Present: Mrs. Freedlund, and Mr. Hruby

MOTION #1. APPROVE THE REGULAR AND CLOSED SESSION SCHOOL BOARD MEETING MINUTES OF APRIL 23, 2019, MAY 2019 PAYABLES IN THE AMOUNT OF $530,994.02, APRIL 2019 PAYROLL DEDUCTIBLE EXPENSES AND ACH WIRES IN THE AMOUNT OF $432,981.36, APRIL 2019 PAYROLLS IN THE AMOUNT OF $636,553.47, THE TREASURER'S REPORT FOR APRIL 30, 2019. A motion was made by Meyers, seconded by Reese, to approve the regular and closed session school board meeting minutes of April 23, 2019, May 2019 payables in the amount of $530,994.02, April 2019 payroll deductible expenses and ACH wires in the amount of $432,981.36, April 2019 payrolls in the amount of $636,553.47, and the Treasurer's report for April 30, 2019. Roll call vote: Aye: Carter, Diestelmeier, Meyers, Reese, Welch, White, and Young. Nay: None. Carried

The Superintendent reviewed the vision, goals and progress of the Wellness committee which is part of the 5 year strategic plan. Mrs. Freedlund provided an update on the BCBS Health Insurance renewal rates for the 2019-2020 school year. Mrs. Freedlund reviewed the information she received in attending an introduction meeting of the new ISBE State Superintendent, Dr. Carmen Aaliyah. Mrs. Freedlund shared the success of the Small District Conference, which served as the School Improvement day for five small districts in the area.

The building principals shared their reports. Mrs. Bannon presented the recommendation for the new science curriculum textbook and resource adoption.

MOTION #2. APPROVE THE ADOPTION AND PURCHASE OF THE 2019-2020 SCIENCE CURRICULUM MATERIALS. A motion was made by White, seconded by Meyers, to approve the adoption and purchase of the 2019-2020 Science Curriculum materials totaling $45,871.60 as follows: 

Mystery Science (K-5") total= $8,997.00 

StemScopes 3D (6h-8th total= $30,310.00 

Gizmos (3-81) total= $6,564.60 

Roll call vote: Aye: Diestelmeier, Meyers, Reese, Welch, White, Young, and Carter. Nay: None. Carried 

MOTION #3. APPROVE THE REVISED BOARD OF EDUCATION AGREEMENTS. Following a review of the Board Agreements, a motion was made by Carter, seconded by Diestelmeier, to approve the revised Board Agreements a presented. 

Roll call vote: Aye: Meyers, Reese, Welch, White, Young, and Carter, and Diestelmeier. Nay: None. Carried 

MOTION #4. APPROVE THE CONSOLIDATED DISTRICT PLAN FOR STATE AND FEDERAL GRANT SOURCEȘ. Following an update, a motion was made by White, seconded by Diestelmeier, to approve the Consolidated District Plan for state and federal grant sources.

Roll call vote: Aye: Reese, Welch, White, Young, and Carter, Diestelmeier, and Meyers. Nay: None, Carried 

MOTION #5. APPROVE THE INDEPENDENT CONSULTING AGREEMENTS FOR SCHOOL PSYCHOLOGY AND STARS OF TOMORROW. A motion was made by Meyers, seconded by Reese, to approve the independent consulting agreements for school psychology and Stars of Tomorrow. 

Roll call vote: Aye: Welch, White, Young, and Carter, Diestelmeier, Meyers, and Reese. Nay: None. Carried

MOTION #6. APPROVE THE EVERY CHILD SUCCEEDS ACT SCHOOLWIDE WAIVER FOR RMS. A motion was made by White, seconded by Carter to approve the Every Child Succeeds Act Schoolwide waiver for RMS. 

Roll call vote: Aye: White, Young, and Carter, Diestelmeier, Meyers, Reese, and Welch. Nay: None. Carried 

MOTION #7. APPROVE THE UPDATED FOOD SERVICE DIRECTOR JOB DESCRIPTION. A motion was made by Carter, seconded Meyers, to approve the updated Food Service Director job description as presented. 

Roll call vote: Aye: Young, and Carter, Diestelmeier, Meyers, Reese, Welch, and White. Nay: None. Carried 

MOTION #8. APPROVE THE NIA EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE BALLOT RUNNING CANDIDATES. A motion was made by White, and seconded by Meyers, to approve the NIA Executive Committee ballot running candidates. 

Roll call vote: Aye: Carter, Diestelmeier, Meyers, Reese, Welch, White, and Young. Nay: None. Carried

MOTION #9. MOVE INTO CLOSED SESSIÓN. A motion was made by Carter, seconded by Young, to move into closed session at 8:22 p.m. to consider information regarding the appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees of the public body. 5 ILCS 120/2(c)(1) Closed Session. 

Roll call vote: Aye: Diestelmeier, Meyers, Reese, Welch, White, Young, and Carter, Nay: None. Carried 

MOTION #10. MOVE OUT OF CLOSED SESSION. A motion was made by White, seconded by Welch, to move out of closed session at 9:10 p.m. 

Roll call vote: Aye: Meyers, Reese, Welch, White, Young, Carter, and Diestelmeier. Nay: None. Carried 

MOTION #11. APPROVE MAY PERSONNEL REPORT. A motion was made by White, seconded by Meyers, to approve the May personnel report as follows:

MOTION #13 ADJOURN. A motion was made by White, seconded by Carter, to adjourn at 9:12 p.m. Voice vote. All in favor.
