Winnebago County issued the following announcement on Sept. 13.
Winnebago County State’s Attorney Marilyn Hite Ross announces that on September 12th, 2019, Christopher S. Walker (DOB: 12/21/1972) was sentenced to 20 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections by the Honorable Judge Randy Wilt. The defendant will also be on Mandatory Supervised Release for three years after he is released from prison. Walker pled guilty to one count of Home Invasion in July in front of the Honorable Judge Wilt.
On August 14th, 2018, Rockford Police Officers responded to a residence in the 2800 Block of Lapey Street in reference to a home invasion. A male victim reported that he was inside his residence with the defendant, Christopher Walker, when two females forced entry into the home with weapons and demanded money. Violent Crime Detectives conducted a follow up investigation which revealed that the defendant worked with the two females to orchestrate the home invasion.
Home Invasion is a Class X Felony that is punishable by a sentence of 6-30 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections with a period of Mandatory Supervised Release of three years. The defendant was sentenced to 20 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections which will be served at 50%.
