City of Rockford issued the following announcement on Oct. 30.
The City of Rockford Human Services Department is offering an Emergency Furnace Assistance program for qualifying homeowners to assist with non-working furnaces. Qualified homeowners may receive either repair or replacement of their heating system after an assessment to determine why the furnace is not working.
In order to apply, homeowners must live in Boone or Winnebago Counties, be a homeowner and be income qualified, for example a limit of $1,561/month for a single person or $2,114/month for a two-person household.
Seniors and those receiving Supplemental Security Disability can apply now. Those with children under age six may apply beginning November 1, 2019 and all other income eligible households may apply beginning December 1, 2019.
