SWEDISHAMERICAN HOSPITAL: SwedishAmerican Hospital Welcomes Dr. Paul Furigay

SwedishAmerican Hospital issued the following announcement on Feb. 7.

SwedishAmerican is pleased to welcome its newest neonatologist Dr. Paul Furigay to the SwedishAmerican Hospital Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.

Originally from Pennsylvania, Dr. Furigay brings 16 years of experience to SwedishAmerican. He is board-certified in Pediatrics and Hospice and Palliative Care Medicine and board-eligible in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine.

Dr. Furigay received his medical degree from University of Pittsburgh, completed his residency at Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters in Virginia and completed his fellowship at Women & Infants Hospital of Rhode Island/Brown University. He has participated in overseas medical missions and free clinics in the Philippines and Dominican Republic and is an active volunteer for the YMCA and Make-A-Wish Foundation.

“I pursued a career in the medical field to invest in the next generation by caring for children and their families,” Dr. Furigay said. “I seek to understand and connect with families to learn how I as an individual provider and we as part of the greater health care system can provide what is most needed and valued.”

Dr. Furigay’s special medical interests include child/adolescent health, disease prevention, fitness/exercise, health and wellness, mental health/psychological care, mother/baby care, nutrition, obstetrics/prenatal care, pain management, patient education, pediatric care, preventive medicine, spiritual health, women’s health and women and children.
