Village of Rockton Budget & Finance Committee met February 4

Village of Rockton Budget & Finance Committee met Feb. 4.

Here is the minutes provided by the committee:

Chairman Peterson called the regular meeting of the Budget & Finance Committee to order at 6:30 pm. 

Members present: Scott Fridly, Corine Hughes, John Peterson, Jaye Quimby and Dave Winters 

Also present: Tricia Diduch, Arianne Honkamp (6:32 pm) and Cory Magnus 

Absent: Mayor Adams

Motion by Mr. Winters, second by Mr. Fridly, to waive the reading of and approve the minutes of January 21, 2020. All ayes. Motion approved 3-0.

PUBLIC COMMENT 

None.

SPECIAL WARRANT CONSIDERATIONS 

None.

RECOMMENDATION OF PAYMENT 

Bills were reviewed and recommended for approval in the amount of $174,076.56.

MAYOR ADAMS None.

JAYE QUIMBY, TREASURER 

Ms. Quimby advised the Committee that it’s early in the month and that there isn’t enough money to cover the bills and stated that payroll is next week also. Ms. Quimby said that she will sit on a few things until she receives sales tax around the 10th of the month.

Ms. Quimby stated that she still doesn’t have the audit because the second auditor has quit. Ms. Quimby advised that the auditors will pay any late fees associated with not having the audit completed on time.

Ms. Quimby added that at some point she is going to retire and that the fees will be increasing to approximately $75,000/year so the Committee will want to incorporate those numbers when they are working on the next budget.

DAVE WINTERS, TRUSTEE 

None.

SCOTT FRIDLY, TRUSTEE 

None.

VILLAGE COLLECTOR, CORINE HUGHES 

Ms. Hughes stated that the Village received the claims report from the insurance company and that we are doing really well so she doesn’t anticipate having to pay overage for the min/max contribution.

Ms. Hughes added that the Village received a new contract from Stan’s for the copier on the administration side of the Village and they have added exclusions to the contract of things that they will not cover due to the age of the copier. Ms. Hughes said that she is going to go out for bids for a new copier soon so that she has those numbers to incorporate into next year’s budget.

Ms. Hughes stated that she spoke with the insurance agent today and that the Village has done pretty well with renewals. Ms. Hughes advised the Committee that dental and vision are not increasing, but health insurance is increasing by only 3.5%.

None.
