City of Carlyle Finance Committee and City Council Met August 24

City of Carlyle Finance Committee and City Council met Aug. 24.

Here is the minutes provided by the committee and the council:

The meeting was called to order by Chairman Don Perez on Monday, August 24, 2020 at 6:45 p.m. at Case Halstead Library located at 550 6th Street, Carlyle, IL 62231. Committee members present included Don Perez, Kent Newkirk, and John Hodapp. Others present included Scott Diekemper, Logan Speiser, Jeremy Weh, Shannon Petrea, Michael Jansen, Joe Behrman, Dave Miller, Rita Jurgensmeyer, Chief Mark Pingsterhaus, Matt Wilson, Bo Thomas, Mayor Judy Smith, Andy Brackett, and Martha Reinkensmeyer.

After reviewing the minutes from the August 10, 2020 meeting, Kent Newkirk made a motion to approve the minutes. John Hodapp seconded the motion. After a voice vote, all were found in favor.

The first item on the agenda was the approval of claims. After reviewing the claims, John Hodapp made a motion to approve the claims. Kent Newkirk seconded the motion. After a voice vote, all were found in favor.

The second item on the agenda was discussion about seeking quotes for risk management/liability insurance. Andy stated that IML/RMA has been contacting him for the past year wanting to give him quotes. Andy stated that he is happy with the current provider, ICRMT, but wanted the Council to be aware that IML/RMA has been contacting him frequently. He added that if the Committee decides to seek quotes from IML/RMA, ICRMT must be notified that the City is seeking quotes. After some discussion, John Hodapp made a motion for Andy to look into seeking quotes from IML/RMA for risk management/liability insurance. Kent Newkirk seconded the motion. After a voice vote, all were found in favor.

There was no old business.

There was no new business.

There were no any other comments.

There were no public comments.

The Committee did not enter executive session so there were no executive session items on which to vote.

With no further business to discuss, Kent Newkirk made a motion to adjourn. John Hodapp seconded the motion. Finding all in favor, the meeting was adjourned at 6:48 p.m.
