Mayor McNamara called the meeting to order at 5:37 p.m. Aldermen Hervey, Ervins and Thompson-Kelly appeared via teleconference. Alderman Ervins joined the meeting in person at 5:57 p.m.

1. 2020-216-CR - Committee recommends approval of the annexation of 107 and 110 Lincoln Park Boulevard. The owner of 107 and 110 Lincoln Park Boulevard has requested connection to city water resulting from a failing well. The property owner has submitted a petition for annexation request for water and is adjacent to the City of Rockford. Upon annexation, the properties will be zoned R-1, Single-Family Residential. The Legal Director shall prepare the appropriate ordinance.

VIII. OFFICERS REPORTS

A. Alderman Durkee

Alderman Durkee stated it was remarkable that there were no injuries reported after the two tornadoes and severe storm ripped through our community last Monday. He shared it was wonderful to see neighbors helping each other clean up fallen trees and debris left from the storm. Alderman Durkee expressed his gratitude to the first responders, Public Works staff and the citizens of Rockford for their quick response and hard work.

B. Alderman Frost

Alderman Frost indicated we were very fortunate there weren't any fatalities during the severe storm last week. He reported he had just made it home and in the house when a tree fell across his driveway. He shared it was great to see neighbors helping neighbors and the community working together to clean up after the storm. Alderman Frost thanked Director Kyle Saunders and the Public Works Department for working efficiently and doing an outstanding job of clearing the streets of debris

C. Alderman Hoffman

Alderman Hoffman expressed her appreciation to the Rolling Green neighborhood for the kindness they showed to neighbors impacted by the violent storm. She thanked the Public Works Department for their professionalism and diligent efforts clearing the streets of fallen trees.

D. Alderman Beach

Alderman Beach thanked George Gaulrapp from ComEd for his assistance during the power outage with a family who had serious health conditions.

Alderman Beach recognized Director Saunders, the Public Works staff and ComEd employees for their incredible work of clearing the streets and restoring electricity after the storm.

Alderman Beach thanked Paul Olson and the Miracle Mile Association for hosting the successful Drive-In Movie Night.

E. Alderman Quinonez

Alderman Quinonez recognized Director Saunders for his tremendous efforts and leadership after the severe storm last week.

Alderman Quinonez reported he has received numerous calls concerning statutes that have been taken down in the City of Rockford and across the country. He then inquired about the statute of Lewis Lemon, Thatcher Blake and Germanicus Kent.

Mayor McNamara replied and indicated that statute has been in storage due to the construction work on South Main Street. Mayor McNamara stated he would have a staff member contact Alderman Quinonez to give him an update on the statute.

F. Alderman Chiarelli

Alderman Chiarelli expressed his gratitude to Director Saunders, the Fire Department, Police Department and ComEd for their hard work and quick response during and after the destructive storm.

G. Alderman Hervey

Alderman Hervey voiced her appreciation for Director Saunders and she thanked him for his excellent service to the citizens of the City of Rockford.

Alderman Hervey shared she observed several homeless men clearing trees for Fifth Ward residents after the storm. She thanked all the residents throughout the city that stepped up and assisted others affected by the dangerous storm.

Alderman Hervey also thanked George Gaulrapp from ComEd for his professionalism and for keeping her updated regarding the power outages.

H. Alderman Thompson-Kelly

Alderman Thompson-Kelly acknowledged Director Saunders and the Public Works staff for their consistent hard work and tremendous efforts during difficult situations. She also thanked the Fire Department for assisting a resident in the Seventh Ward that required oxygen during the power outage.

Alderman Thompson-Kelly expressed her gratitude to the residents of the Seventh Ward for their response and for showing kindness to their neighbors in need.

I. Alderman Ervins

Alderman Ervins reported the Sixth Ward did not have suffer much damage during the severe storm and he thanked Director Saunders and the city staff for their diligent efforts.

J. Mayor McNamara

Mayor McNamara voiced his appreciation for the City of Rockford staff who do a phenomenal job and continuously step up during difficult times. He commented the residents of Rockford always do an amazing job of uniting together to face challenges head on.

K. Alderman Tuneberg

Alderman Tuneberg announced City Market is now open and he encouraged citizens to support local small businesses in downtown Rockford and those that participate in the market.

IX. ADJOURNMENT

1. Motion to Adjourn

Alderman Beach moved to adjourn the meeting, seconded by Alderman Rose. MOTION PREVAILED with a unanimous roll call vote (Alderman McNeely was absent). The meeting was adjourned at 6:20 p.m.
