CITY OF ROCKFORD: Mitigation Compliance at Retail Stores

Shopping mall

City of Rockford issued the following announcement on Nov. 26.

The traditional start of the holiday shopping season is the day after Thanksgiving. Normally, that means residents line up by the hundreds outside of stores before they open and then rush in to get the very best deals. This year, we must change the way that looks. Retail stores and businesses must adhere to state-mandated capacity limits. General merchandise stores can operate at no more than 25% capacity. Lines inside and outside of stores must be socially distanced, and those waiting in line, as well as all inside, must wear face coverings.

Our Code Enforcement team will be doing compliance checks at stores, both large and small, at all hours from Friday through Sunday. If you’d like to report an issue, e-mail NSComplaints@rockfordil.gov. Our goal is to make sure stores are following the state-mandated mitigations that are designed to limit the spread of this virus.
